Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. (SPE) is an American television and film production and distribution company of Japanese multinational technology and media conglomerate Sony. Based in Culver City, California and serving as Sony's main global film production and distribution unit, Sony Pictures Entertainment owns film studios which have distributed various commercially successful film series, including three installments in the James Bond series, Spider-Man, Men in Black, Resident Evil, The Smurfs and Underworld. Its group sales in the fiscal year 2011 ended March 31, 2012 has been reported to be of $8.021 billion.

Sony Pictures Entertainment is a member of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

Television SubsidiaryEdit

Sony Pictures Television Inc. (SPT) is an American television production/distribution that operates internationally. Based in Culver City, California, it is a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment, which is part of the Japanese conglomerate Sony. SPT is the owner and international distributor of shows originally produced by such companies as Tandem Productions, ELP Communications, Barris Industries, Stewart Tele Enterprises, and 2waytraffic, and also operates the networks AXN, Animax, and Sony Entertainment Television.

Japanese SubsidiaryEdit

Sony Pictures Entertainment (Japan) lnc. (株式会社ソニー・ピクチャーズ エンタテインメント, Kabushiki-Gaisha Sonī Pikuchāzu Entateinmento) is a Japanese film studio, based in Minato-ku, Tokyo. It also uses the as abbreviations: SPE or SPEJ for operations. SPEJ is the majority shareholder of Japanese anime satellite television company Animax Broadcasat Japan. They have also distributed most of Sony Pictures Entertainment's films for Japan, as well as producing some Anime and Anime films as well.

Home EntertainmentEdit

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is the home video distribution arm of Sony Pictures Entertainment, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation. It is responsible for the distribution of the Sony Pictures library for home entertainment, mainly releases from Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures, but also releases product from Sony Pictures Classics, Screen Gems, Triumph Films, Destination Films, Revolution Studios, Stage 6 Films, and Affirm Films. Since June 21, 2007, SPHE now handles its former Sony BMG kids label, Sony Wonder. They are also responsible for their television shows from the Sony Pictures Television library from Screen Gems, Columbia Pictures Television, TriStar Television, Tandem Productions, TOY Productions, ELP Communications (shows include from T.A.T. Communications to ELP Communications), Four D Productions, Columbia TriStar Television and Sony Pictures Television. In Canada, Columbia TriStar Home Video helped distribute tapes from Astral Video in the 1990s. It also has an Australian deal with Hoyts.

SPE and Harmony Unleshed: Equestrian TrinityEdit

Sony Pictures Entertainment internationally distributes the Equestrian Trinity anime series with licensing from Hasbro Studios and Aniplex of America with an english dub produced by NaruIchi97/AtomicRanger97 Entertainment Studios Inc.. However, the home video releasing rights, instead of Aniplex US, belong to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to make its home video releases very cheap for anime fans.
