Hiroyuki Imaishi (今石 洋之 Imaishi Hiroyuki, born October 4, 1971 in Tokyo) is a Japanese key animator and anime director. His style is marked by fast and frantic animation combined with elaborate storyboarding and punchy direction. He is known for key animation such as FLCL and Neon Genesis Evangelion, and others, and later an animator for anime series and character designer for the OVA Promo of Anime Tencho. He directed Dead Leaves (animated by Production I.G) in 2004, Episode 1 of Re:Cutie Honey, a collab anime of Gainax and Toei, the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Series in 2007, and his final work on Gainax in 2010, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. 

Currently, after Imaishi left Gainax and founded the new animation studio Trigger, he will direct its first Fall 2013 original anime series from Trigger, Kill la Kill, reuniting with Sushio and Kazuki Nakashima. 

For the Harmony Unleashed franchise, he worked as supervisor and key animator for Harmony Unleashed: Human Ponidox Continuum Shift along with Sunrise and Studio 4C and Yoshiaki Okumura as director. As well as directing HU works, such as the third Harmony Unleashed: Human Ponidox Continuum Shift - The AppleSpark Trilogy installment, "ShiningCadance Chapter", as well as the unit co-director for the animated adaptation of Harmony Unleashed: Anthro Bunraku with Jayson Thiessen (supervising director of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and Director of the Equestria Girls movie) and Chris Prynoski (director of Megas XLR and creator of Motorcity and founder of Titmouse Inc.). Also, he is the chief storyboard artist for Harmony Unleashed: Jaegermeisters alongside Shin Itagaki.
